What you need to know before and when you get there

  • Emergency dental treatment- 01563 578 664 for office hours only 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday at other times please phone NHS 24 above. Please be aware if you are from overseas you maybe charged for any medical or dental ttreatment however you will be treated first.

  • Arrivals are usually after 4pm. There is no one on site. The key for the front door will be in the keystore at the front of the garage. The are floodlights for evening arrivals. You will be provided with a number to use in the dial before your holiday. If it is not forwarded to you please ask for it. Remember to take this with you as you will not be able to get in without it.On departure please return the key and scramble the dial.
  • Departure is at 10am. We don't expect you to leave the house as you found it- its your holiday after all! However you must ensure that all rubbish is taken out the night before  If you could strip used beds and put the linens beside the washing machine that would be greatly appreciated as our turnaround time is limited.
  • Waste- there are green everyday waste bins and blue recycling bins at the side of the house. They are collected weekly on a Tuesday. You should put any bin that needs emptied in front of the fence.
  • There is oil central heating. With oil prices this is a very expensive form of heating and we would be appreciate it if you did not waste it. It will be on when you go in. The boiler is in the utility room and will be set for the appropriate time of year. If you need to override these settings and switch on the heating please do so however please bear in mind that oil is supplied by an oil tank and can run out- if you use the heating excessively it may run out causing damage to the boiler. We have contracted deliveries of oil based upon normal usage so in normal use it will not run out. If before arriving you let us know that you would prefer the heating on all the day and/or night we will adjust our oil supplies accordingly. There would be a charge for this of £100 which represents the additional oil that will be required. If you have special requirements that necessitate the heating on continually you MUST let me know in advance.
  • We do not charge a deposit preferring to trust our guests to leave the house and its contents in a good state, please help us to continue to do this. Any small breakages please replace with a similar object, any large breakages please contact by email fionabriggs@btinternet.com
  • We welcome dogs but please not in bedrooms, the downstairs lounge or on furniture thanks.
  • There is a high chair in the utility room. Please return when you have finished with it make sure it is are clean before putting it back!
  • There are stair gates available for you in the utility room.
  • We do not provide towels so please make sure you bring your own.
  • All cleaning materials, vacuum, mop, salt, pepper, oil and various spices are provided. There will also be sufficient toilet paper and tea and coffee for your arrival- these will need to be replaced by yourself as appropriate. If anything runs out during your stay please replace it for the benefit of the next occupant this way no-one has to buy all the basic essentials.There will be a few dishwasher tablets, you will have to buy new ones as required.
  • We do not supply washing detergent or milk as everyone has their own preferences.
  • There is parking for two/three. Please leave a car sized space between the small stone wall on the right hand side of the garage- our neighbour parks her car there while in residence.
  • Stove- the log stove in the snug is lovely to curl up in front of. To purchase logs go to Girvan or Ballantrae. To light the stove start with scrunched up newspaper and a couple of firelighters. Place kindling on top of this and one small log. Light the newspapers- once the log has caught fire you can add some more. You will need to empty the ash tray every couple of fires, make sure the ash is completely cold before putting in the bin.Please keep the stove doors closed.
  • Hot tub- the hot tub will be ready for your arrival. There is no additional charge for using the hot tub however if you require it to be maintained during your stay there is a charge of £100 per week or £20 per day for someone to carry out the daily maintenance required. You can carry out the maintenance yourself- it takes seconds and everything is supplied that you need. The instructions and books that you need are on site. If you are going to be using the hot tub during your stay you need to email me at fionabriggs@btinternet.com stating that you agree to the hot tub disclaimer.
  • Wifi- there is wifi and broadband. The WAP code is on the reverse of the router box which is usually in the kitchen.
  • The instructions for all electrical appliances and the hot tub will be in the kitchen.
